Typographic layout β

Enter special characters easily with the typographic layout:

This demo will only work if you have a physical keyboard

What is this?

Typography layout is a familiar layout for the keyboard with additional useful symbols.

How to install it?

Linux macOS Windows
sudo wget https://typo.ale.sh/dist/typo_en.xkb_symbols -O ${XKB_CONFIG_ROOT:-/usr/share/X11/xkb}/symbols/custom

The layout will appear in the settings of your DE as “Custom”. Works with X.Org and Wayland.

curl -fsSL https://typo.ale.sh/dist/typo_en.keylayout > '~/Library/Keyboard Layouts/typo_en.keylayout'

Or download typo_en.keylayout and put it into ~/Library/Keyboard Layouts. To open Library in Finder, press ⌥ alt and click Go → Library in the menubar.

Download and run typoen_amd64.msi. Go to Control Panel, Regional and language options (or International), and replace the layout for the English language with the new one.

No Arm version yet :/

What is this weird symbol on “z”?

It’s a zero-width non-joiner. In some writing systems it’s used to separate parts of a word that shouldn’t be joined into a ligature. It also helps you send a text smiley in an app that would otherwise convert it to an emoji :-)

It doesn’t work, what do

Ping me and we’ll figure it out: alexander@notpushk.in

Inspired by (and mostly repeats) Ilya Burman’s layout and is made using Kalamine.
